Making Your Business Thrive Despite the Circumstances

With all the doom and gloom being reported in the local and international press, the temptation is to adopt a “survival” mentality and hope to hold on until all of the bad news blows over.

Tame the Bear

A 'bear market' is typically defined as a fall in the share market of more than 20%, and a feeling of widespread pessimism. However, when fear reigns it can always help to look at the past to see what opportunities can arise.

Generally, bear markets have occurred in times of slower or negative economic growth and a pickup in unemployment. However, to date the Australian economy is still growing, albeit at a slower pace than in recent times, and the unemployment rate is at around 30 year lows. In spite of this, the S&P/ASX All Ordinaries Index fell from its high of 6,853 points on 1st November 2007, to a low of around 3,100 recently – a fall of around 55%.

Self-managed Super and Insurance

There are many events that could cause a serious disruption to your lifestyle and these disruptions have financial and emotional consequences. Disruption usually occurs when you least expect it and as a result, emotional strain will be followed quickly by financial strain.

Losing your ability to generate an income may have serious consequences on your long-term financial security. Adequate lifestyle protection cover transfers this risk to a life insurance company.
